Echosonographer II - Echocardiography

This is a hourly, variable (8, 9 , 10 & 12) hour, day shift position, per diem. This position is not eligible for benefits.

This position is responsible for performing M-Mode, Two-Dimensional, Pulsed and Continuous Wave Doppler, Color Flow Imaging, and Stress (Treadmill and Pharmacologic) Echocardiography. This position requires the understanding of anatomy on pediatric and adult patients. Must be proficient at performing Preliminary Reports for placement in the medical chart immediately following every echo exam.

This position requires the performance of pediatric and fetal echocardiographic studies. It requires the understanding and knowledge associated with the anatomy and physiology of the pediatric patient.
Satisfactory completion of a formal Ultrasound training program. Four year - Bachelor of Science Degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound preferred.

Meets the requirements for registry by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) in Adult and Pediatric Echocardiography. Registry with the ARDMS in Adult and Pediatric Echocardiography preferred. Registry with the ARDMS in Adult Echocardiography is required within one year of employment.

A minimum of two years cardiac scanning experience with adult and pediatric patients required.

Must have the ability to perform and understand M-Mode, Two-Dimensional, Pulsed and Continuous Wave Doppler, and Color Flow Imaging procedures on all adult and pediatric patients. Ability to complete Echo Exams, Stress Echocardiography and Transesophageal Scanning on adult and pediatric patients utilizing the current technology preferred.

This position requires an individual to correlate the ultrasound images and prepare a Preliminary Report that will be used to manage patient care. Must make clinical judgements of the patient's condition based on information obtained from the referring physician, medical records, patient interview, and personal assessment. Performs a variety of modalities that require independent judgement, initiative and responsibility relative to the patient's, hospital's and technical needs.

Indepth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and physical principles as related to diagnostic echocardiography. The position may require a good understanding and working knowledge of complex congenital heart disease in the pediatric patient and for fetal echocardiography.
