Job Description

ECONOMETRIC MODELER

GENERAL SUMMARY

Position is on the research staff of a private, not-for-profit research institute, located in McLean, VA, that specializes in government consulting within a broad spectrum of public policy management. Ideal candidate will serve as a member of a team developing econometric models for a U.S. federal government agency. The position will be located at various locations within the Washington Metropolitan area. An active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph is required to be considered for this position.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

LMI is currently seeking to fill multiple positions with individuals who have experience with one or more of the following disciplines:

-Econometric Modeling (practical and/or graduate-level training) including:

-Linear and non-linear regression
-Discrete & Categorical choice modeling
-Limited dependent variable modeling
-Robust regression methods
-Maximum likelihood techniques
-Non-parametric regression methods
-Time-series & forecasting methods
-Panel Data regression
-System of regression models


-Statistics

-Discriminant and factor analysis
-Principal components
-Decision-tree modeling
-Bayesian statistics


-Computational Methods and Simulation Approaches

-Genetic algorithms
-Agent-based modeling
-Static micro simulation
-Dynamic micro simulation




Depending upon the specific position assigned, individuals may:

-Participate in meetings and conferences.
-Develop and conduct training.
-Critically evaluate analytic products against formal metrics.
-Lead teams of consultants performing these functions.
-Facilitate client events and brainstorming sessions.

Requirements:


-BA/ BS degree in related field.
-MA/MS desired.


-Current Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Full Scope polygraph is required.


-3-5 years of experience in economic modeling.
-Experience with survey design and sampling methodologies
-Experience in building models and understanding how to model social phenomena and processes and calibrate these models.
-Understanding of model output(s) and how it relates to a client challenge or problem.
-Ability to work with large datasets
-Ability to translate technical nature of an approach to a non-technical audience.


SOFTWARE SKILLS:

The successful candidate will have experience using the following software applications:

-SAS
-STATA
-SPSS
-Java and/or C# programming experience preferred
