Essential FunctionDemonstrate a comprehensive understanding of service offerings and processes. With minimal supervision, undertake delivery (including copyediting, proofreading, quality control, and production coordination) of assigned projects, ensuring that work is performed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards in accordance with editorial processes and industry guidelines. Contribute to achievement of project profitability by effective project management and alerting project lead/project accounting of any changes to project scope.Key AccountabilitiesCopyediting and Proofreading
- Copyedit existing texts to give maximum clarity of meaning, accuracy, and consistency of style and format to ensure that client objectives are met and overall standards are maintained
- Be responsible for developing/maintaining and applying client-specific editorial style guides and, in conjunction with the Graphic Artists, graphics style guides. The role also requires input to the PAREXEL MedCom house style guide and ensuring other team members are aware of, and adhere to, these style guides
- Proofread all editorial items (print and electronic), ensuring that they do not contain errors or omissions
- Check page proofs for errors and inconsistencies Quality Control and Best Working Practices
- Understand and effectively implement corporate policies and procedures
- Ensure that all quality control procedures are followed, and all approvals and sign-offs have been obtained (client, KOLs/faculty, authors, internal)
- Ensure that all items are produced efficiently to the correct specification and highest quality
- Identify and propose solutions, as appropriate, for new and better ways of ensuring QC and implementing effective working practices within Editorial Services and across functions
- Seek opportunities to maximize project efficiency and make recommendations or take actions as appropriate
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of internal information sources, Contribute, as requested, to the content development of such resourcesProduction Coordination
- Keep up-to-date with print and production processes and how they apply to collateral produced. Be aware of most appropriate print methods in terms of cost and quality of end product
- Ensure appropriate color mark-up for layouts and sign-off printer s proofs
- Embrace opportunity to work on new electronic deliverables; apply/make recommendations for best working practicesProject Management
- Communicate a clear brief that accurately defines the scope, objectives, and timeframe of a project, the needs of the client, and the agreed budget
- Develop Time & Events schedules for all appropriate projects, liaising with all relevant internal and external personnel
- Create Production job sheets for all projects based on the specifications provided in the budget
- Communicate progress, problems and proposed solutions, resource needs, etc, to the Manager
- Develop close working relationships with personnel in other in-house teams, eg, Global Studio, Digital Media, Clin Comms, Exhibits, Meeting & Event Services to achieve most effective working practices on project work
- Set up and oversee maintenance of all internal and external project tracking documentation in conjunction with the project administratorBudgeting and Financial Monitoring
- Provide creative input into the generation of proposals and subsequent development of editorial items, in cooperation with the project team
- Contribute to the budgeting process as requested
- Monitor budgeted specifications and hours and communicate changes in scope and raise variances accordingly QualificationsSkills

- Proficient use of English language Minimum Work Experience
- Relevant experience in a copyediting/proofreading role preferably within the pharmaceutical industry and ideally gained working with a communication agency; highly refined copyediting, and proofreading skills
- Relevant experience in the design, layout, and production of both printed materials and electronic media
- Highly computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word [Advanced], PowerPoint [Advanced], Excel [Intermediate], and Outlook [or equivalent]) for e-mail communication, tasks, calendar, contacts This job description should be read in conjunction with MedCom s Delivery Competency Model, which comprises the following competencies
