JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Act-1 Group is looking for a full-time contract employee to work onsite at Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), located in Longview, Washington. This position will perform fault study analysis and protective relay setting assignments. Up to 5% travel may be required to remote district offices to review existing relay settings and equipment configurations at substations within the BPA service area of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. The work of this position will be primarily performed off-site, with occasional work performed at the duty station at HQ in Longview, WA to complete projects and attend meetings as necessary.
Position Responsibilities include:
? Relay coordination studies for relay replacements and new construction.
? Provide assistance with blueprint redlines and record revisions waiting for review.
? Review new meter/relay designs and associated project requirement diagrams.
? Review Substation Control Schemes for accuracy.
? Review and assess new schemes for sound engineering application.
? Assist the Test and Energization (T&E) Engineer with commissioning tests of the relays and the HVAC equipment in which it interfaces.
? Provide System Protection Engineering support and troubleshoot new installations.
? Bachelor?s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required, preferably in the fields of Electrical, Electronics, or Power Engineering.
? 10+ years experience and knowledge of engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system is required.
? Extensive knowledge of, and proficiency in, the duties and responsibilities of SPC Field Engineers and SPC District Engineers is required.
? Extensive experience (10 + years) as a System Protection Engineer is required.
? Proficiency with administrative software such as Microsoft Office Suite products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, including Microsoft Office 2010 is required.
? Proficiency with engineering software such as fault study analysis Aspen program, MathCad calculation worksheet, Wavewin system analysis program, SEL AcSelerator settings, and ABB PCM-600 settings, or similar software, is highly desired.
? Ability to demonstrate technical abilities, understanding of communications? standards, and show an in-depth understanding of industry approved work standards.
? Ability to participate and perform effectively in a project team environment.
? Skill in oral and written communication.
? Ability to effectively manage multiple work assignments and changing priorities.
? Knowledge of the BPA system, BPA?s design practices, BPA?s testing standard, and applicable safety standards, work standards, craft specific guides, and the duties and tasks related to SPC is highly preferred.
? Knowledge and understanding of comparable electric utility systems, design practices, testing standards, safety standards, work standards and duties and tasks related to installation, testing, maintenance and repair of substation relay and control systems is desirable.
