DfR Solutions is seeking a customer-focused engineer or scientist to join our Senior Technical Staff in the Washington, DC, area (Beltsville, MD). The ideal candidate must be delightfully curious, enjoy working in technical teams, and be confident enough to work alone. The applicant will be expected to provide customers with expert analysis and recommendations for defining and improving the reliability and durability of their electronic products; analyze, understand, and explain failure mechanisms in electronic components and assemblies, and develop detailed recommendations to prevent continued failures; lead failure analysis and design review activities at customer sites or in the DfR laboratory/test facility; and develop novel approaches to problem solving, failure analysis, and testing of electronics. Strong written and verbal technical communication skills are a must as this position will require frequent verbal and written communication with customers, professional societies, universities, and vendors.

Degree Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in ElectricalEngineering or Physics with a strong background in semiconductor device design, manufacturing, and operation.

Experience Requirements: 10years of experience in the design, manufacture, or failure analysis of electronic devices and assemblies, including semiconductor devices (especially microprocessors, memory devices, LEDs, and the building blocks of these devices). Preference will be given to applicants who are also familiar with physics of failure reliability approaches to electronics, developing mathematical models of degradation phenomena, and a demonstrated ability to design and conduct experiments to predict the behavior of electronic devices and assemblies in an operational environment. Also desirable are experience with a broad range of materials (ceramics, metals, polymers, semiconductors), good understanding of material fundamentals (crystallography, diffusion, creep, fatigue, oxidation, etc.), knowledge of printed circuit board and printed circuit board assembly materials and design guidelines, awareness of, or training in, statistics and statistical analysis tools, and training or experience with project management.
