Electrical Helper

The Rockefeller University, a leading biomedical research institute, seeks a Electrical Helper to join Plant Operations. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, will perform repairs and maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, manufacturers' specifications, or supervisor's instructions using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing devices. Will observe and adjust a wide variety of machines and devices in operation to assure proper operation, including pumps, engines, motors, conveyors, compressors, and laboratory equipment. Will dismantle machines and devices for servicing, repair, or replacement of parts, replace defective bulbs, sockets, switches, fuses, and receptacles in buildings or exterior areas of the university, assist tradesmen when directed, and maintain time and material records. Will perform other duties as needed.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have general operating, repair, and adjustment knowledge of mechanical equipment, knowledge of power tools, and clear oral and written communication skills. Must be able to move, push, pull, or lift equipment, materials, and tools weighing more than 50 lbs., climb extension ladders, work overhead, and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move within confined areas including crawl and attic spaces. Must be willing and able to work in all types of weather.
