Electrical Instrumentation Engineer
Chalfont, Pennsylvania, USA

Location and team
KEMA-Powertest, LLC, located in Chalfont, PA, is the largest high power electrical testing laboratory in the United States providing electrical power, dielectric and mechanical testing services to a variety of clients from government and industry. It is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation Engineer to add to the team.
Tasks may include
- Develop designs and specifications for high accuracy measurement circuits in high power, high voltage environments, including identification and selection of appropriate hardware
- Select transducers and measuring system components that meet the required system accuracy and measurement uncertainty
- Implementation of a new multi-channel automated measurement system in high power laboratory: voltage and current measurements, signal transportation, test database implementation, automatic calculation based on Short-Circuit Testing Liaison (STL) guides, automated reporting
- Development of measurement and reporting applications for renewable energy electrical systems, using National Instrument's programming software packages
- Prepare and adhere to budgets and schedules of assigned projects, and communicate status to supervisor
- Safe and careful handling and usage of laboratory instruments and test equipment
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable test standards, and technological advances and innovations through study, observation and training
What we're asking
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- Experience and understanding of electric power and control systems and its components,
- Background in measurements of electrical signals, signal transportation and data recording in electric power systems
- 4-5 years experience in the specification, design, and implementation of high accuracy computer based data acquisition systems
- 4-5 years expertise with calibration methods and measurement uncertainty calculations in electrical testing preferably of high voltage, high power systems
- Preferred experience with National Instruments data acquisition products
- Preferred experience with database applications
- Strong oral and written English communication skills
- May require climbing, working in overhead or in confined spaces
- Willingness to travel to client locations if required (less than 30% travel expected)
