Collect and track truck functionality requirements of fleets, drivers, and vocational users. Extract use cases and create solutions to provide value added functionality.
Participate in team design of instrumentation, driver information, operator controls, and other truck cabin or chassis features requiring electronic functionality.
Develop solutions compatible with existing applications, product plans, regulations (emissions, greenhouse gas, FMVSS), and performance expectations.
Derive and document system requirements for software, electronics, sensors, actuators, human to machine interface (HMI), and vehicle network messaging to achieve targeted functional enhancements
Develop and document engineering specifications for new vehicle functions
Obtain agreement from cross-divisional counterparts on global design direction.
Communicate requirements to other functional teams as needed to assure reliability and quality.
Ensure engineering solutions developed are robust using Design for Six Sigma concepts. Ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met on all deliverables.
Develop or enhance complete functional models for vehicle software features using Matlab/Simulink.
Develop high-level visual software elements to support delivery of new and enhanced features.
Track projects or features from concept to implementation.
Provide interface documentation to wiring design, software architect(s), and other engineering design groups.
Coordinate with software verification and validation staff to certify software and process parameters meet specifications.
Support launch at truck assembly plants as needed, and contribute resolution of field issues as identified.
Contribute to development and continuous improvement of procedures and practices that ensure high-quality, reliable embedded software systems.
Manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality.
