Bourns, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in Auburn Hills, MI.

SUMMARY

To maintain and improve Bourns�� market position through the timely development of high quality embedded software for Bourns�� products

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned :
1. Development of embedded software for Bourns�� sensors, especially linear and angular sensors for the automotive industry
a. Development of SW architecture, requirements, and design specifications
b. Development of functional simulations and models
c. Coding of software functions and modules according to industry standards and in-house guidelines
d. Testing and verification of software functionality
e. Hardware-in-the-loop debugging of software modules
2. Teamwork with other members of the software and hardware team as well as other teams within Bourns.
3. Provide technical advice for relevant application and interface issues and questions
4. Presentation of development results internally and externally
5. Review and definition of software requirements based on customer specifications and product level requirements
6. Design of software modules based on software requirements
7. Implementation of software modules in C++
8. Unit testing and Software integration testing
9. Documentation of test results to meet requirements of Automotive SPICE, CMMI and ISO 26262.
10. Team work on software FMEA and other software documentation, code reviews
11. Meet the requirements of the Bourns Internal Concept to Customer (C to C) System.
12. Maintain compliance to current ISO standards and customer specific requirements as applicable.
13. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with High Performance teams, continuous improvement goals, and values of Bourns Automotive Division.
14. Travel up to 25% of the time is required.

ADDITIONAL POSSIBLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Embedded firmware design in product development
2. Real time programming in C and Assembly for Intel/Motorola/Microchip 8-bit microcontrollers.
3. Circuit analysis using SPICE evaluation tools
4. Use of MathCAD and other similar Engineering tools

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

-Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering degree (EE) or Computer Sciences or equivalent industry experience and a minimum of 2 years in software development for automotive applications.

-Experience with V-Model development processes including Software Unit Test, Unit Test Automation and Integration Testing

-Coding embedded software in C++ for 8 and 16-bit microcontrollers

-Hands-on use of electronic test equipment


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and customers.
