Position is on the research staff of a private, not-for-profit management consulting firm headquartered in Tysons, VA. The primary objective of this work is to facilitate regulatory compliance, better integrate energy conservation and management principles, reduce energy and water use and related GHG emissions and costs, and ensure the effective and efficient implementation of Energy policies and programs. Work performance at Tysons, VA headquarters and/or client site(s) in DC Metro area.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Job Functions)
Responsible for conducting studies and analyses on a variety of topics relating to energy, water, GHG and sustainability management. Work focuses on helping government clients in program planning and management; energy, water, and GHG management; energy and water auditing, enhancing building and infrastructure performance, procurement of utility services; compliance with energy, water, and GHG related laws, regulations and Executive Orders; related information systems; and related environmental issues. Responsible for effectively and efficiently communicating analytic results to clients.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a comprehensive government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information. The background investigation includes financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, and employment verifications.
A bachelor s degree in engineering or other science and three years experience with application to energy and environmental issues is required. Bachelor s degree in business, economics, finance, or public policy analysis is acceptable with work experience in fields related to energy, environment and sustainability.
A master s degree, Certified Energy Manager credential, and five years or more years professional experience is preferred. Energy auditing, data analysis, and GHG reporting experience is desired. Specific experience in analysis of conventional and renewable electrical power generation, distribution systems, air emissions, and portfolios is desired.
Strong problem solving, analytical, and data management skills are essential.
Must be self-directed and detail oriented.
Ability to effectively interact with personnel involved in policy, technical, operational and program management work.
Ability to contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, promoting teamwork and fostering positive communication.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work in both a team environment and an independent setting.
Superior communication skills are required, both oral and written.
Availability for occasional travel is required.
