Job Description
Brown and Caldwell is the largest engineering firm of its kind solely focused on the U.S. environmental sector. With offices throughout the country, we have opportunities nationwide to work on some of our most exciting environmental projects.
Our Washington Operations is currently seeking a Civil/Infrastructure Engineer III with an interest and familiarity in water and wastewater conveyance and civil design, and who has a minimum of 5 years of consulting experience helping manage and execute work on existing projects. The selected candidate will work closely with strong technical experts.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute work involving conventional types of civil and utility engineering principles and other related activities for new and existing wastewater, conveyance, and civil/site projects
- Develop and prepare specifications, detailed design drawings, reports, planning, and construction submittal reviews calculations, models and other technical deliverables for civil/utility, conveyance and infrastructure related projects
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make adaptations and modifications to projects
- Lead project team in planning and/or designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies
- Direct the work of, communicate effectively and coordinate with, project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers and other engineers)
- Delegate and oversee the work of subordinate technical staff and engineers
- Provide consultation in specialized areas (wastewater/water conveyance and civil design), make decisions and solve problems
- Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
- Assist with business development pursuits as requested
- Position may require minimal travel and off-site field visits
Position Requirements:
- B.S. degree in related engineering field (Civil, Environmental etc.)
- M.S. degree in related engineering field with a focus on wastewater and water conveyance and civil site/hydraulic design preferred
- 5-10 years of progressively increasing responsibility required
- PE required
- Strong project management or project engineer skills desired
- Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience a plus
- GIS and/or CAD experience essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation essential
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and the ability to multi-task essential
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite essential
