* Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Network Engineer 2 to support the Ground\-basedMidcourse Defense \(GMD\) Communication Network \(GCN\) Product Development Team with Network ManagementSystems, Information Assurance/Communications Network Defense, and Network infrastructure product development\.Responsibilities include all aspects of the product design, development, integration, test and implementation throughthe Product life cycle for incorporating changes identified by Program personnel\. This includes analysis of changerequests and requirements for new or upgraded Product capabilities, systems design, COTS/GOTS integration, andprocedures needed to meet and mitigate requirements changes\. Additionally, the candidate is expected to be able toresolve technically challenging issues and proactively contribute to the evolution of the Product\.Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Design, develop, configure, integrate, install and test network systems primarily consisting of Cisco, UNIX, Linux andWindows based LAN/WANs- Derive system\-level requirements from architectural guidelines and project objectives- Develop detailed designs with supporting implementation, test and transition plans- Usher proposed system changes through the Configuration Management process to successful implementation anddelivery to the Customer/Operator- Develop and maintain documentation supporting the Product through development, integration, deployment and deliveryto the customer/operator- Work within and across teams to support and coordinate daily integration activities- Create and update Visio drawings of network and rack elevation diagrams- Execute root cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve complex network system issues- Support UNIX, Linux and Windows based networked systems- Work with vendor support for hardware issues- Interface with DISA- Approximately 25% travel will be required for this position including supporting Product installation and checkout atoperational and test locationsDesigns and plans network communications systems\. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture\. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements\. Conducts testing of network design\. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc\. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network\.

* Basic Qualifications:

*
* Bachelor's of Science degree \(Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or Math disciplinedesired\) and 2 Years practical experience with networked computer systems, storage systems, routers and switches\. 0 Years experience with Masters degree\. At a minimum, musthave Sec w/CE Hours Certification required to comply with DOD 8570 requirement\.The position requires previous experience in the integration of independent components into a single system\. Strongtechnical skills in the following are required:
- Experience in network design and implementation- Experience configuring routers, switches and firewalls \(i\.e\. Cisco, Juniper, etc\.\)- Experience in design and deployment of internal and external routing protocols, layer 2 protocols, multicast, local andlong\-haul data transmission mediums \(RS\-530, T1, OC\-x, etc\.\), SONET, Type I encryption devices and network timingsystems- Experience integrating COTS/GOTS hardware in an enterprise network system supporting applications on Unix/Linuxand/or Windows OS platforms- Experience with Linux and Windows system installing and configuring systems from the OS level up- Candidate must possess at a minimum, a SECRET clearance
