We are seeking an individual for a Regular position as a ENGINEER, SYSTEM PROTECTION in the Electric & Water Delivery Division.

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide engineering support and design within the system protection area.



PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

*

Engineers drawings associated with protective relaying;
*

Studies faults, relay settings, and calculations, and validate relay files;
*

Perform line testing for impedance measurements, verify relay settings and line impedance calculations and maintain line impedance and relay settings;
*

Analyze system disturbances and verifies relay operations;
*

Supports field personnel;
*

Maintain breaker ratings for North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance;
*

Assist on Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) and NERC requirements;
*

Perform other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following:

o Relay Database;

o Relay Test Reports;

o Fault Records analysis;

o System Protection Standards;

o Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and NERC Standards;

o NERC Audit Worksheet;

o Protective System maintenance program;

o Protective relay settings;

o Generator and Substation Schematics;

* Familiarity with all, but not limited to, the following:

o Software Applications (i.e. AutoCAD, Aspen, Fault Analysis, and Relay Programming);

o Equipment (i.e. Multimeter, Impedance Test equipment);

o Vendor specific software for relay programming;

o Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices, and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws;

* Good communication skills, both verbal and written;

* Good planning and coordination of work skills;

* Ability to work with field personnel;

* Perform integral and derivative calculus;

* Understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records;

* Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages;

* Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).



EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATION/ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study from an ABET accredited college or university and Minimum of one (1) year of engineering experience in the electric utility industry; system protection preferred



Rate of Pay: DE05E Salary $65,336.00 - 98,004.00
