Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI) has a job opportunity for a Maintenance and Engineering Manager to be located in South Gate, CA. The Maintenance and Engineering Manager will provide engineering and maintenance leadership to the manufacturing and facility operations. Additionally, the Maintenance and Engineering Manager will be responsible for the effective management and coordination of the hourly maintenance & storeroom teams, plant engineers and the plant capital budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MAINTENANCE AND ENGINEERING MANAGER:

* Providing leadership in support of the organizations Safety Management Process
* Ensuring the timely repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds and other facilities
* Promoting the continual improvement of Plant Reliability, through proper support of Leanevents, through capital investment and re-engineering projects that strive to offset maintenance materials inflation and to reduce plant downtime
* Maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all production related manufacturing equipment and processes required to manufacture a high quality product in a repeatable and cost effective manner
* Driving improvements in all related manufacturing processes, including those related to products, equipment, human interface and product quality
* Ensuring new parts and optimization projects are completed by the requireddeadline, at reasonable cost, and with a robust process
* Ensuring effective operation of the storeroom operation in support of the plants goals
* Ensuring the plant IT/Network is effectively managed in support of the plants goals
* Ensuring the required technical support for all critical process and product issue resolution is available for all product builds, process operations and facilities management
* Approving all tooling, either manufactured or purchased, used in assigned functional area
* Recommending and providing leadership support for the implementation of new process improvement projects related to safety, Plant Reliability, process effectiveness, and cost utilizing improvement systems/tools such as 6 Sigma, Lean and 5S
* Developing departmental goals and strategies consistent with Plant, Corporate, and Operational goals and provides the leadership for the planning process to meet these goals
* Providing general direction and performance requirements for use of outside contractors and service representatives as it relates to engineering efforts

* Adhering to the values, beliefs and principles pertaining to EHS with Armstrong Flooring
* Managing general plant engineering projects and services
* Preparing and managing capital budget for those projects related to general plant services and distribution
* Leading in the implementation of repeatable processes to support selected process control systems and achieve desired results
* Providing direction for the maintenance and storeroom group assuring that all processes are performed in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
* Overseeing the repair and maintenance of all facility equipment including, building, grounds, plant utilities, and manufacturing equipment
* Developing and implementing selected process measurement to monitor manufacturing performance and system effectiveness
* Ensuring compliance with all EPA, CalOSHA / OSHA and other related regulatory requirement
* Utilizing design of experiments and other appropriate techniques to evaluate process capabilities and monitor results
* Scheduling and conducting design and post-audit reviews of new/current products to obtain the designed quality at the least cost

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND ENGINEERING MANAGER:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or ElectricalEngineering
* 10+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing industry
* 5+ years of supervisory responsibility
* Knowledge of Machine Shop Operations, Metal Fabrication, and mechanical assembly processes
* Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Improvement tools and approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Problem Solving, Kanban, Process Mapping, etc.)
* Experience developing and managing capital improvement projects
* Must understand systems, design of repeatable processes, and utilize SPC when appropriate
* Possess excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
* Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization
* Must be a self-starter and be able to function in a semi-autonomous environment
