JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Engineering Technician applies knowledge of engineering principles in support of activities required to maintain FAA NAS systems and equipment. This position works with engineers in prototype design development and testing as well as operates, installs, troubleshoots and repairs electronic systems / equipment. The Engineering Technician also performs a variety of related tasks in support of NAS Engineering projects and processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties maybe assigned.

Analyzes and conducts performance tests of electronic systems.
Produces engineering prototypes, studies and technical documentation.
Writes and maintains technical documentation for electronic and electro-mechanical systems and equipment. Describes functionality, maintenance requirements and maintenance techniques.
Develops and executes detailed plans, schedules and related activities in the testing, debugging, and validation of systems and equipment.
Performs analysis, design, programming and testing in support of proposed electronic and electro-mechanical systems and equipment.
Protects the integrity of the original design implementation and program function.
Implements quality assurance measures in support of QA policies and procedures.
Provides technical guidance in the procurement of new systems and equipment.
Provides technical assistance in the installation, operation and maintenance of equipment and systems.
Conducts trend analyses on the reliability of equipment and systems.
Troubleshoots failures in equipment and systems.
Develops / reviews Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRL) and other contractual documentation, as required.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in Electronics Technology or a related field of study or completion of equivalent technical courses through military service or the FAA Academy. Must have relevant technical documentation experience based on the position level as outlined below. Relevant experience includes working with engineers in a prototype design development and testing environment and experience in writing / revising technical documentation for electronic / electro-mechanical systems and equipment. Experience on NAS systems and equipment is preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge of maintenance and operation procedures of NAS related systems and equipment
Knowledge of equipment fabrication, prototype assembly and testing
Knowledge of computer systems, data processors, software and firmware applications with ability to understand NAS engineering programs,
systems and equipment
Knowledge of networking
Technical proficiency and effective problem-solving skills
Solid verbal and written communications skills
Organized with ability to handle multiple priorities
Willingness and ability to learn new concepts and techniques
Ability to work both individually and in a team environment
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
