Summary Statement

Under the general direction of the Manager, Payroll Personnel System / Enterprise Time and Attendance System (PPS /ETAS), the ETAS Senior Analyst plays a key role in maintaining the operations and functionality of the ETAS. The ETAS is a complex, mission-critical campus enterprise information technology system that is responsible for ensuring accurate time and leave reporting for over 6,500 employees. The ETAS Senior Analyst is responsible for providing analysis and troubleshooting support necessary to maintain the ETAS, as well as technical administrative duties for the ETAS. The selected candidate will also provide ongoing production support for ETAS, as well as play a key role in general ongoing maintenance of the system, and will be responsible for analysis and implementation of modifications and enhancements to the system. Success in the position requires strong analytical, technical, and communication skills.

Qualifications / Competencies
Managing medium- to large-scale system-related projects

Understanding, interpreting and applying regulations, policies and/or procedures, especially as they relate to the implementation and maintenance of business information technology systems

Working with business process owners and end-users to design and implement application system functionality

Effectively collaborating with IT staff responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the technology infrastructure supporting business applications

Understanding of technical terminology associated with large-scale information technology enterprise business application

Using standard personal computing tools including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software

Analysis of complex information, problems, and processes in an objective manner and formulate conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, select appropriate courses of action and make recommendations

Excellent organizational skills sufficient to perform multiple projects and assignments

Working independently and innovatively with minimal direction, and efficiently managing competing priorities.
Strong oral communication skills with ability to work effectively in group processes

Excellent writing skills to draft clean and concise reports, policies and procedures, and correspondence

Anticipate problems that may affect project progress, dealing with them accordingly

Independent learning, coming up to speed quickly on system concepts

Preferred Qualifications / Competencies
Experience with SQL and database query concepts

Enterprise Time and Attendance System (ETAS) Maintenance and Production Support
Maintain system settings, modifying them as needed to accommodate changes in business processes, policies, or organizational structures.

Understand system access issues and how they relate to the roles and responsibilities of system users, and the organizational structure of departments, units, and campus administration.

Perform data extraction and analysis in support of data and information requests. Utilize and maintain existing queries and reports as well as development of new queries and reports in response to identified needs.

Provide analytical support for modules, processes, and reporting in ETAS as assigned.

Identify and troubleshoot system issues or problems, investigate, test, and report on the impact on ETAS functionality, system availability, and data integrity.

Report system problems to ETAS vendor support and collaborate with vendor on resolution.

Manage data interface processes between ETAS and the university Payroll and HR System, ensuring accurate transfer of data for employee setup and transfer of timesheet data for impacted populations.

Maintain documentation of ETAS related processes and procedures.

Design technical specifications for system process, forms, and reporting modifications and enhancements and work with local or vendor technical programming staff to implement them.

Provide support, analysis, and expertise to plan, test, and implement new or improved business processes.

Analyze and test ETAS software upgrades and patches for the purposes of coordinating their installation and evaluating their functionality.

Work closely with ETAS vendor to resolve and retest upgrade issues.

Evaluate modification requests from users to determine feasibility, benefit, and effort required to plan and implement, including deployment and production scheduling.

Design specifications for system modifications, test, and implement into production according to established system modification standards and guidelines.

Work with technical programming staff to plan, test, and implement system infrastructure changes.

Research, communicate, and document ETAS issues or special projects as assigned.
