Description:
Electrical and Computer Engineers at the Bettis and
Knolls sites are engaged throughout their career in the
design, development, deployment, analysis,
troubleshooting, and testing of electrical systems
associated with shipboard instrumentation and control
systems, power electronics, propulsion plant simulation,
laboratory test facilities, and site electrical
infrastructure. This diversity in job opportunities
provides BMPC Electrical and Computer Engineers with
challenging work and a means to continue gaining
technical skills and broadening their experience
throughout their career.
The successful candidate will work in the Power
Acoustics Technology unit within the New Design business
area and be required to perform research on power
electronics technologies, recommend investment in
down-selected technologies, perform analysis, and
develop and conduct testing to demonstrate performance
expectations.
Typical roles & responsibilities include:
* Becoming the subject matter expert on BMPC power
electronics applications, design, operation, and
maintenance
* Applying expertise to target technology advancement
with relevant improvements to BMPC applications
* Developing and implementing modification to
equipment in laboratory test facilities
* Developing technical recommendations/reports usually
requiring integration across multiple engineering
disciplines
* Developing and executing test programs of emerging
technologies to facilitate knowledge advancement and
validate analytical predictions
* Procuring equipment necessary to perform validation
testing
* Working on diverse assignments that support career
growth
Requirements:
Associate:
BS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from an
accredited college or university required
Intermediate:
BS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of two
years of relevant experience; or
MS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from an
accredited college or university.
Specific coursework and/or experience in one of the
following areas:
* Control Systems
* Power Electronics
* Hardware/Software Development
Additional Required Skills
* Strong written communication skills with an ability
to articulate technical ideas in a clear & concise
manner
* Strong interpersonal and verbal communication that
will be essential in the candidate's ability to
contribute effectively in a teaming environment
* Demonstrated leadership skills through previous work
and/or academic experience
