JOB DESCRIPTIONVHB is looking for a mid- to senior-level Environmental Scientist / Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) Specialist to join our South Portland, ME office for a project-based job opportunity. This position is predominantly field-based in southern NH and northern MA with excellent growth opportunity within a vibrant, expanding office.
Responsibilities: Perform field environmental permit compliance observation and reporting on transmission line construction projects, focused on implementation and maintenance of EPSC measures and practices Assist the Project Manager with state and federal stormwater and wetland permitting applications Work within a team of professionals to conduct a wide array of water resources related studies and analysis for a multitude of environmental, land development and water resources projects
Skills and Abilities: Ability to work confidently and independently on highly active construction sites Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills Must have experience reading and understanding engineering site plans Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to grow professionally Ability to think critically and solve problems Strong communication skills between clients, contractors, and state/federal officials
Qualifications: BS in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering or related field 5+ years of professional experience Must have experience on construction sites and with EPSC measures and practices. A Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) preferred Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis, water quality analysis preferred Storm-water management design, Low Impact Development/green infrastructure design, floodplain management, storm sewer design, grading and site design preferred. AutoCAD and GIS experience strongly desired. Must have experience conducting wetland delineations and state and federal natural resource permitting This position may include night/weekend shifts and/or working in challenging weather conditions.
