JOB DESCRIPTIONVHB's growing Massachusetts team is looking for an Environmental Scientist/Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) Specialist to join our Environmental group in our Watertown or Worcester office.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with a focus on environmental compliance aspects of large scale construction projects. This position is predominantly field-based at one or more project sites in New England.
Responsibilities: Perform field observation and reporting on all types of construction projects, focused on implementation and maintenance of EPSC measures and practices. There will be a focus on linear energy projects. Perform environmental permit compliance observation and reporting for the projects, Conduct natural resource area assessments and identifying access within and to linear energy corridors Assist the Project Manager with state and federal stormwater and wetland permitting applications
Skills and Abilities: Ability to work confidently and independently on highly active construction sites Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to grow professionally Ability to think critically and solve problems Strong communication skills between clients, contractors, and state/federal officials
Qualifications: B.S. in environmental science, natural resources, wetland science, or a related field 5+ years of experience Experience on construction sites and with EPSC measures and practices A Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) preferred Able to conduct tasks independently Experience reading and understanding engineering site plans ArcGIS preferred Experience with use of GPS equipment This position will involve working in remote field locations, overnight travel, and may include night/weekend shifts and/or working in challenging weather conditions
