Description:
BMPC's Advanced Development unit team in the Reactor
Technology department is looking for an experienced
engineer to join their growing team. This position will
be responsible for providing leadership in the
development and application of computational fluid
dynamics (CFD) methods for nuclear power applications.
The selected candidate will be a member of a team
developing, validating, and implementing new CFD
approaches for simulating high Reynolds number fluid
flows in the complex geometrics encountered in advanced
nuclear power system design and operation. The
successful candidate will have demonstrated experience
performing CFD analysis, preferably with transient CFD
methods such as large-eddy simulation and detached-eddy
simulation, and will display a strong understanding of
the fundamental physics governing the fluid dynamics
phenomena these techniques are intended to capture.
Experience with turbomachinery modeling, coupled with
fluid flow with structural response or fluid flow with
acoustic response is preferred.
PhD applicants are preferred, but Master's degree
applicants with a strong CFD background and experience
in CFD analysis will be considered.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Development and use of transient CFD methods such as
large-eddy simulation and detached-eddy simulation
for large domain problems with stationary and moving
meshes
* CAD importation, manipulation, and cleanup and mesh
generation for complex internal geometries
* Application of standard CFD post-processing as well
as signal-processing techniques
Requirements:
Requirements for a Senior level Engineer:
* MS degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical,
Aerospace or other similar Engineering field from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of
four years of relevant experience OR PhD in
Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Aerospace or other
similar Engineering field from an accredited college
or university.
* Demonstrated experience in preparing, conducing, and
analyzing CFD simulations of turbulent flow through
complex geometries, from geometry acquisition
through analysis of results.
* Strong fundamental understanding of turbulence
modeling methods, both steady state (RANS) and
time-accurate (e.g., unsteady RANS, LES, or hybrid
RANS-LES methods).
* Demonstrated coding/scripting experience (user
coding, post-processing automation/scripting,
shell/batch scripting).
* Experience with commercial or open source CFD
solvers such as AcuSolve, OpenFOAM (most preferred),
CFX, and STAR-CCM+.
* Experience using UNIX and/or Linux high-performance
computing systems.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with
the ability to articulate technical subjects.
* Demonstrated track record of successfully meeting
project milestones in a timely manner.
Requirements for a Principal level Engineer:
* MS degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical,
Aerospace or other similar Engineering field from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of
seven years of relevant experience OR PhD in
Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Aerospace or other
similar Engineering field from an accredited college
or university and a minimum of three years of
relevant experience.
* Demonstrated experience in preparing, conducing, and
analyzing CFD simulations of turbulent flow through
complex geometries, from geometry acquisition
through analysis of results.
* Strong fundamental understanding of turbulence
