Description:
Senior/Principal:
Develop and qualify weld process parameters and
procedures, perform metallographic evaluations, and
provide direct engineering support to on site welding
laboratory. Joining processes to be supported include
but are not limited to gas tungsten arc welding, gas
metal arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, plasma
transferred arc welding, laser processing, and brazing.
Duties will include performing and directing the
development of manual, mechanized, and automatic weld
procedures. This position will include hands-on
developmental efforts in a welding laboratory utilizing
state-of-the-art equipment in compliance with applicable
environmental and safety requirements. This position
will also require the candidate to review welding
drawings and documents for subcontracted fabrication
efforts. Applicant must be able to plan and execute work
programs, analyze experimental results, and prepare
technical reports. The position also requires some
travel to vendors and shipyards to support testing and
production use of equipment.
Requirements:
Senior:
BS degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical /
Materials Science & Engineering, or Mechanical
Engineering from an accredited college or university and
a minimum of six years of relevant welding experience;
or
MS degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical /
Materials Science & Engineering, or Mechanical
Engineering from an accredited college or university and
a minimum of four years of relevant welding experience
Principal:
BS degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical /
Materials Science & Engineering, or Mechanical
Engineering from an accredited college or university and
a minimum of nine years of relevant welding experience;
or
MS degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical /
Materials Science & Engineering, or Mechanical
Engineering from an accredited college or university and
a minimum of seven years of relevant welding experience
