Description:
Naval Nuclear Laboratory is looking for an experienced
Mechanical Engineer to join it's Methods Development
team located at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory.
This position requires knowledge and experience with
computational two-phase thermal hydraulics and
programming. The successful candidate will work with a
team of engineers to develop, verify, and qualify
thermal hydraulic procedures and design computer
programs that are used to evaluate existing and new
reactor designs for naval application. You will
integrate with design and test groups as needed to
understand development needs, define supporting testing,
and use test results to aid development and
qualification efforts. A typical work assignment would
be to use a design computer program to perform test
predictions, compare results to test data, identify
areas where model improvements are needed, define design
factors or other procedures to ensure conservative
application by designers, document results, and present
those results to a design review team to help defend a
recommendation. There are also opportunities to provide
consulting support to address emergent issues for the
fleet and new design communities.
Requirements:
This position will be filled at either the Senior or
Principal level. Please see specific requirements below:
Requirements for a Senior level Engineer:
* BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college
or university and a minimum of six years of relevant
experience; or MS degree in Engineering from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of
four years of relevant experience.
* Academic or work experience with computational
thermal hydraulics (e.g., design, closure model
development, numeric), programming (e.g., Fortran),
and script development (e.g., Python) to automate
work.
Requirements for a Principal level Engineer:
* BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college
or university and a minimum of nine years of
relevant experience; or MS degree in Engineering
from an accredited college or university and a
minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
* Academic or work experience with computational
thermal hydraulics (e.g., design, closure model
development, numeric), programming (e.g., Fortran),
and script development (e.g., Python) to automate
work.
