External Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager

This position is responsible for the management of all food safety and quality aspects for MCNA external manufacturing supplier base. The role is also responsible for ensuring all current suppliers meet Mars Q&FS requirements and approval for new suppliers. The Quality Services Segment Manager leads segment quality initiatives for continuous improvement and supplier development. Key Responsibilities: Manage segment supplier base to assess and ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the Quality & Food Safety programs. Lead supplier approval and the development process through initial audit assignments, provide final site-R&D approval with ongoing primary supplier support assignment recommendations. Lead Quality/Food Safety product incident management process. Ensuring key food safety documentation and assessments are in place and current for each supplier. Manage the performance of the quality audit function for existing suppliers, including the development of the audit schedule, assignments, auditor calibration, and reporting within agreed timelines. Manage decision, disposition, and follow-through processes with respect to non-conforming product and incidents impacting food safety. Influence site and value stream (comanufacturing and copacking) strategies through active participation in Flexible Supply staff meetings. Manage and report on Quality and Food Safety metrics, including consumer and customer correspondence. Manage associate resources and projects through leadership and direction within the matrix environment in Flexible Supply. Key Skills Required: HACCP and food safety management ISO9000, ISO 22000, and other quality management systems Auditing (I.e. CQA) Statistics (SPC, i.e. CQE) Quality systems standards, including GMPs Problem solving Food Science / Process Engineering / Process Technology Science and technology, including food microbiology, analytical chemistry, and sensory methods Minimum Qualifications: 4 years experience in a technical area such as R&D product development, laboratory management, quality systems or process engineering. The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program in a related field, or equivalent work experience. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time Successful completion of a drug and background screen Preferred Qualifications: 5 years experience in a technical area such as R&D product development, laboratory management, quality systems or process engineering 1 year of that experience must have involved the management of people and/or projects BS degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering, or related technical field Company-paid relocation is not available for this position.
