Description
Purpose/Role Statement
Set-up and operate plastic extrusion equipment to manufacture miniature, precision medical tubing to established quality standards in order to meet departmental production demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Sets-up all equipment modules required for manufacturing.
- Gathers proper tooling and assembles to the appropriate machine for manufacturing.
- Ensures proper resins are available, prepared and staged properly.
- Performs start-up and operations on extrusion equipment according to approved parameters.
- Adjusts tooling as required to produce product within specifications.
- Adjust processing parameters as allowed to maintain product within specifications.
- Inspects product according to current methods and standards using approved equipment.
- Collects and packages product according to approved standards and delivers to the next station.
- Completes and submits all required paperwork or electronic data entry.
- Purges, shuts down, cleans equipment according to approved methods and removes tooling in preparation for the next work order.
- Mentors/trains junior technicians.
- Provides feedback to Engineering on process issues and recommends solutions.
- Identifies, provides recommendations and executes plans for improvement.
- Uses computer applications such as MS Office, SAP and PDM.
- May serve as a Shift Lead

Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities
Fully support the Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of the incumbent's work and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements (including but not limited to being current on all training requirements for the incumbent's position and documenting that training).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technician certification preferred.
Five years minimum experience recommended in a plastic extrusion environment (preferred:
medical device tubing experience).
Demonstrated organizational and teamwork skills.
Good manual dexterity and solid mechanical aptitude are required.
Basic math and computer skills required (including a basic understanding of statistical methods).
Experience using ERP/MRP systems and PDM (or other document control system).
Applied knowledge of conceptual basics, extrusion processes and automated feedback loops.
Solid written, verbal and technical communication skills.
Requires little to no supervision for day-to-day tasks/responsibilities.
Working Conditions
Extrusion production area/laboratory (clean, quiet, and air-conditioned). Some lifting required.
