Description:
Intermediate/Advanced:
This position is for a Fire Protection Engineer in the
Bettis Engineering Department located in West Mifflin,
Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will provide
technical oversight for fire protection system designs,
support inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire
protection systems, and serve as a technical consultant
in matters related to fire and life safety. Major
responsibilities are listed below:
Intermediate:
* Perform engineering evaluations and analyses
* Support operations, testing, and maintenance fire
protection systems
* Provide support for emergency response activities
on-site, as required.
* Provide engineering support for fire protection
system infrastructure upgrades, including
underground fire main and building sprinkler
systems.
Advanced:
* Perform engineering evaluations and analyses
* Document code compliance evaluations, including
submittals for approval of the authority having
jurisdiction
* Support operations, testing, and maintenance of fire
protection systems
* Provide oversight for construction and renovation of
fire protection and life safety systems
* Provide support for emergency response activities
on-site, as required
* Provide engineering support for fire protection
system infrastructure upgrades, including
underground fire main and building sprinkler systems
Requirements:
Intermediate:
BS degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of two
years of relevant practical experience in Fire
Protection Engineering, including operations and
maintenance or,
BS degree in a related engineering or technical
discipline from an accredited college or university is
acceptable together with one or more of the following:
1) Four or more years of practical experience in Fire
Protection Engineering, including experience in
operations and maintenance; 2) Possession of a
Professional Engineer certificate in Fire Protection; or
3) Professional Member status in the Society of Fire
Protection Engineers
Advanced:
BS degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of four
years of relevant practical experience in Fire
Protection Engineering, including operations and
maintenance or,
BS degree in a related engineering or technical
discipline from an accredited college or university is
acceptable together with one ore more of the following:
1) Six or more years of practical experience in Fire
Protection Engineering, including experience in
operations and maintenance; 2) Possession of a
Professional Engineer certificate in Fire Protection; or
3) Professional Member status in the Society of Fire
Protection Engineers
