Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, the Food Service Dining Assistant is responsible for preparing equipment, food products, and supplies for cafeteria service. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS
Balances receipts and monies for the sale of food items. Accounts for all receipts at shifts end. Operates cash register and prepares cash reconciliation reports. Takes cash register readings after each meal.
Checks badge to provide appropriate employee discount. Checks closed containers in an effort to ensure sales accuracy. Accurately handles cash transactions; requests change as necessary. Provides customer with receipt.
Prepares, serves, and replenishes hot/cold foods as necessary. Assists in the set-up and break down of all food items within cafeteria and coffee bar. Monitors dining areas and assists in clean up throughout shift. Responsible for proper handling, labeling and storage of food/non-food items. Completes cleaning, including trash removal, and cleaning equipment.
Responsible for HACCP documentation, as appropriate. Performs all heavy duty cleaning and sanitizing including: food wells, beverage dispensers, tables and removal of trash. Reports equipment problems.
Works on cafeteria line when needed. Works in other kitchen areas as assigned.
Adheres to and complies with HCA S ethics and compliance policies in the Code of Conduct.
Utilizes appropriate precautions related to infection control in relation to maintenance of equipment, supplies, food, the environment and personal hygiene activities.
Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to fulfill position responsibilities. Provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests as appropriate to position.
Follows standardized recipes accurately in preparing all food and beverages. Utilizes portion control.
Completes other activities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Must be able to read, write and speak English and interpret standardized menus and perform basic mathematical Calculations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of one-year previous experience in food service in a healthcare environment or commercial field preferred.
