Responsible for the completion of all assigned job tasks in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines, to achieve a maximum level of sanitation and food safety. Promotes a team approach within the work environment by assisting coworkers and demonstrating self-initiative. Work assignments may vary as needed and will include cafeteria (server, cashier, stock), tray line, dish room, pots and pans, tray delivery, floor stock, late-tray set-up, and cleaning at various campus locations.
The Food Service Worker demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
Demonstrates appropriate customer service skills in all personal encounters and interactions.
Builds effective working relationships and a spirit of teamwork within the work unit.
Delivery of patient trays
Serving/portioning food in the cafeteria or for patient meals
Dishroom duties including operating dish machines, garbage disposals
washing/sanitizing pots and pans
Cleaning of floors, equipment, and all work surfaces
Restocking food/supplies in cafeterias, kitchens, and patient units
Passing/picking up trays
Floor stock delivery
Assist with catering as requested
Accountable for work assignments to be completed in a timely basis.
Observes department Policies and Procedures.
Ensures accurate and timely delivery of quality food service to all customers within Covenant HealthCare facilities.
Observes and complies with all State Health Codes
Achieves high standards of Sanitation and an organized and safe work environment by following HACCP guidelines to include food temperature records maintenance.
Follows routine daily cleaning schedule.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities attained through work and life experiences and/or high school student (program).
Attend required in-services and department meetings to stay informed and maintain competency
Socialization skills for interaction with all age groups.
Strong Customer Service skills
Ability to use or operate kitchen equipment including dish machine, ovens, tray line, etc. (High school student N/A to equipment.)
Ability to meet time deadlines to complete job tasks
Ability to accept and adapt to change.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Demonstrates ability to interact with hospital patients and their families.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Constant lifting up to 50 lbs.
Constant standing, walking, twisting, reaching, handling, feeling, hearing, tasting, smellling, near vision, midrange vision, far vision, depth perception and field of vision.
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing and talking.
Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and squatting.
