Facilities Engineering - Civil Engineer
The mission of the Facilities Engineering sub-division
at the Kesselring Site is to provide timely, high
quality, integrated customer service-based engineering
solutions for all non-reactor plant prototype facilities
and to support the operations, maintenance, and capital
improvement needs while embracing regulatory compliance.
The Kesselring Site is a government reservation of
approximately 4000 acres with a developed area of nearly
60 acres. Our facilities support the training of naval
personnel, the testing of new reactor plant technologies
and the associated business support functions.
Facilities Engineering consists of four integrated
multi-disciplinary units with discrete responsibilities:
Site Mechanical Engineering supports several critical to
operations site systems including site service water
distribution, sanitary waste conveyance and treatment,
drinking water treatment, central boiler plant and
steam/condensate distribution, storm water conveyance
and treatment, central compressed air and demineralized
water systems and more.
Site Electrical Engineering supports an extensive
electrical power (115 Kv to 480 v) distribution system
from the point of utility company delivery to the
end-users as well as several back-up emergency
generators to support mission continuity.
Site Facilities Engineering supports all existing
building systems including building envelope (roofs,
siding, doors and windows) and structures, HVAC and
plumbing systems, fire protection (alarm, detection and
suppression) systems, lighting as well as general site
works such as roads and bridges.
Facilities Design Engineering supports capital
improvement construction projects including buildings
(office, training, and testing) and site infrastructure.
