Under the supervision of the Property Manager, serve as Facilities Mechanic for the FPG Century Center and Ambulatory Community Clinics. Employee will help fix and repair maintenance and mechanical issues at the UCLA Century Center Office and Ambulatory Clinics. Employee must be able to discern when to suggest contacting a vendor to help supply support.
Facilities mechanic will perform routine and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of buildings and related facilities equipment under general supervision. Incumbents may work independently, as part of a maintenance crew, or under the general direction of a journey level crafts worker.
Employee must be able to interact with top level management and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Assist with other duties, and special projects as assigned. Maintenance of facilities; assist with construction needs; assist with practice moves and set-up; ensure safe handling and installation of UCLA furniture and equipment.
Facilities mechanic will perform routine and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of buildings and related facilities equipment under general supervision. Incumbents may work independently, as part of a maintenance crew, or under the general direction of a journey level crafts worker. The incumbent has the ability to do rough carpentry work, concrete core drilling and saw cutting, replace light switches and receptacles, electrical fixtures such as sockets, switches and make minor electrical repairs on de-energized circuits; reset panelboard circuit breakers and replace fuses as directed; replace door closers, locks, latches, hinges, and other building hardware; install bathroom vanity equipment, maintain and repair buffing and scrubbing machines, household appliances, and other such motorized equipment; test and replace drive belts and lubricants; and may perform all tasks normally performed by Facilities Workers.
Working knowledge of methods and proper use of tools used in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. Knowledge of safe working practices. Must have the ability to use power tools, ability to lift up to 50lbs and up to 100lbs with assistive equipment.
Skill in communicating and obtaining clear and concise information. Skill in reading and writing standard English in order to understand written directions and convey concise and grammatically correct information. Proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs, Word and Excel. Willingness to work overtime as required and under adverse situations.
Current and Valid driver s license and maintenance of clean driving record as travel is required.
Preferred: Experience in working in a hospital environment and familiar with standard protocol on systems inherent to hospital operations. Knowledge of applicable codes including but not limited to CMC, CEC, NFPA 99 and 101. Knowledge of current Joint Commission and Department of Public Health standards including applicable Title 22 and Title 24 standards.
