Job Description

Kodiak, Alaska -- Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center is searching for a BEBC Family Medicine physician to join the outstanding care team on amazing Kodiak Island. Eligible for National Health Service Corps loan repayment. This is a full-time, full-spectrum position, including OB, in a federally qualified health center (not a tribal organization). The health center features a brand new, state-of-the-art clinic with nine exam rooms as well as on-site orthopedic and general surgery. It is located on the hospital campus and is currently staffed by one MD, one DO, two PAs and a great mission-oriented team who serve the uninsured. Popular 4-day work week. Comfortable call-sharing, competitive compensation, and great quality of life on Alaskas Emerald Isle. As the only hospital on Kodiak Island, Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center is truly a critical access hospital. The 25-acute-bed facility plays an indispensable role in the lives of nearly 14,000 residents in the city of Kodiak, the Coast Guard base and neighboring villages. With an MRI, 64-slice CT and other cutting-edge equipment, our physicians and a cadre of visiting specialists are able to provide advanced care right here in Kodiak. The hospital receives high marks from patients, physicians and employees alike. Alaska offers financial, cultural and recreational opportunities beyond compare. There is no state income or sales tax; in fact the state pays every Alaskan a yearly dividend from oil revenues! Kodiak is famous for its fishing, huge Kodiak brown bears and lush forested mountains. But Kodiak Islanders also pride themselves on lesser known features: excellent public and private schools, organized youth sports, several churches, museums, and dozens of community events. The islands tight-knit population of 14,000 residents is surprisingly diverse, with significant groups of Alaska Natives, Asians, Hispanics and Pacific Islanders. Nature is never far away in Kodiak. Within minutes of the hospital you can be beachcombing, jogging through a magnificent forest, or fighting a feisty salmon on a pristine stream. Providence Kodiak is part of Providence Health amp; Services, a not-for-profit network of hospitals, clinics and physician partners in Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Providence has a proud 150-year history in the West, and we continue to grow with the communities we serve. With more than 300 physician opportunities in virtually all specialties, we offer physicians diverse lifestyle choices, flexible work arrangements and robust practice support.
