Job Summary:

Multi-skilled position that is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a gathering system area (including compressor stations) to minimize downtime, provide producers with the lowest possible gathering system pressures and timely response to producer complaints. Coordinates system shutdowns (new connects, leak repairs, etc.), line pressure maintenance (pigging, balling, drip removal) and lock out/tag out. Responsible for starting/stopping compressors , equipment checks, preventive maintenance on engines, and certain repairs to engines and engine compressors (belts, hoses, spark plug changes, water/oil leak repairs, filter maintenance, etc.) and clean up/housekeeping of facilities. Performs minor electrical/instrumentation maintenance and repair (change lights, maintain heat tape, change out small electrical motors). Works with craft personnel to insure any equipment/system problems are resolved in a timely manner. Various other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment. Required to climb about equipment and work in confined areas (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels). Works in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment. Wears safety equipment as required. Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools. Climbs and works at various heights. May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position. Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work. Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 100 foot pounds of torque. Regularly gets into and out of vehicles and rides over rough roads. Walks an average of 5 miles per day, up to 7 miles per day. Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements, as well as being subject to overtime and call-outs.

This job may be staffed at any of the following levels, depending on qualifications and experience: Utility I, Utility II, Utility III, Field Operator X, Field Operator I or Field Operator II.

Basic Qualifications:

High school degree or GED
Valid driver s license and acceptable driving record
Must be able to follow written or spoken work instructions in English
Must be willing to work overtime and handle call-outs.
Currently live, or be willing to relocate, to within 35 miles of the reporting location
Must have a reliable means of contact for call-out purposes.

Desired Qualifications:

Two (2) years previous experience with compressor station operation and maintenance
Able to perform basic mathematical equations
Able to assume responsibility, perform duties and handle tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
Able to make decisions and corrections when problems are detected
Mechanical aptitude
Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Able to work well with others
Able to perform work independently
Good organizational skills
Good customer relations skills
Open to learning and take pride in a job well done
Extremely reliable and dependable
Demonstrate sound judgment
