The Field Service Engineer will provide highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site service support of proton therapy equipment and ancillary devices. This would include overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment. Interprets customers needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers. This job may include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PCs, and networking/wireless networking.
Works in small teams, and requires a minimum of supervision. Position must have full access to VMS client sites to perform the essential functions of this position. Many VMS clients require VMS employees and representatives to meet certain Vendor Credentialing requirements before they will be allowed to have access to their sites. Unless prohibited by law, position must meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to have full client access, and must continue to meet those requirements during the course of VMS employment in this position.
May be required to specialize in specific technical areas and have some level of cross-functional and overall system knowledge.
Performs parts inventory, ordering, and return consigned parts appropriately and in a timely manner as necessary for each repair/upgrade for assigned.
Maintain technical documentation regarding operating characteristics, design factors, technical performance and development of products to improve installation efficiency.
Report by means of FSR s, time sheets, expense reports, etc. regularly to ensure accurate company statistical data on customer-oriented activities is available.

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of and sound professional experience with electronic and electro-mechanical engineering, testing equipment used for verification, checkout and calibration of electronic and/or mechanical equipment.
Ability to Read an Interpret schematics/technical documents
Knowledge of and professional technical experience with micro-computers/PC based systems
Customer focused attitude
Articulate and skilled in interpersonal communication
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Other Desired Skills and Knowledge
Sound computer usage and debugging skills
Familiarity with Electronic Test Equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
Knowledge of Beam Physics
Sound knowledge of networks and networking techniques
Sound understanding of imaging systems
Experience with Siemens or Beckhoff PLC Systems
Experience with various dosimetry devices
Experience with Vacuum Systems including Turbo Molecular Pumps
Experience with RF systems
Experience with Particle Accelerators
Required Certifications and Training
Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility. Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to:
Proof of valid identification (photo, driver s license, SSN)
Criminal background checks
Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus)
Annual TB testing
Experience Level with Business Tools
Familiar with business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
Minimum: Associates Degree or equivalent
Preferred: BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science
3 5 years of related experience
Percentage of Travel Required
