The "Damage Assessor" will be responsible for surveying damage and developing a restoration plan for the designated area or circuit. Additional Responsibilities include:
Work with crew leaders, material delivery, and tree crews.
Visually inspect all line segments including walking out the lines to identify potential risks/problems and to confirm resolved risks/problems.
Report oil spills immediately to the Site Scout Coordinator or Team Leader.
Insure that safety expectations are adhered at all times.
Train the support personnel ("Driver" position to be posted at later date) in areas of proper scouting, safety, equipment identification, etc...
Assist the Energy Provider's Team Leader directing crews to the next assignment, as needed.
Minimum of 2 years experience in construction or engineering in overhead distribution. Previous storm scouting experience preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA safe work practices preferred.
Must have ability to identify primary and secondary electrical facilities, including poles, primary and secondary wires, services, primary insulators, transformers, fuses, reclosers, substations, etc...Must have the ability to differentiate between Electrical, Cablevision, and Telephone lines. Ability to recognize lines that are energized prior to being isolated and grounded. Good written and communication skills. Must be motivated individual with the ability to take direction well. Ability to conform and maintain good safety practices. Good understanding of the Storm Restoration and Scouting process. Ability to learn, assist, and educate others. Ability to read road maps. Ability to communicate with General Public.

Pre-employment drug-testing is required as a condition of employment. Must have cellular telephone. This position requires walking rugged terrain, including dense, wooded areas. Flexible Schedule. May require extended shifts, at times. Project exists in the states of Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.
