The Los Angeles office has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join our Finance team. The Finance Manager is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and accounting, providing input regarding financial decisions of the company and development of new systems as required. Responsibilities include monthly reporting to local and corporate management, commercial partnership as it relates to contract and client deal terms, adherence to those terms, and responsibility for local finance and accounting functions.

Primary Responsibilities

* Prepare budgets, forecasts and other reports as required by management

* Conduct proactive analysis of variances from budget

* Assist in designing and reporting key performance indicators for the local office

* Oversee related employee tracking and reporting (i.e., staff costs, capacity and utilization)

* Provide client contribution analysis

* Handle the financial month-end close process each month

* Analyze proactively client deal terms and agency compliance to contracts

* Manage accounting activities including, oversight of general ledger (P&L and balance sheet), account analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing

* Manage cash flow via: vendor relations, accounts receivable (A/R) collections, A/R aging, monitoring bad debt reserve, and escalating issues as required

* Establish guidelines regarding general spending for operations and ensure appropriate authorization levels are in place

* Understand and manage revenue by client monthly

Workplace Leadership

* Communicate effectively and productively with all levels of employees

* Update senior team members on best practices and guide approach to client financial discussions

* Be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

* Interpret company financial information and present recap to management, with an accurate eye for detail balanced with the ability to see 'the big picture'

* Provide context/point of view/recommendations when providing reports

* Think about the business environment and make recommendations as to any required course corrections

* Be accessible and available to direct reports and team members, provide appropriate feedback

* Create ad hoc reporting as needed

Operational Leadership

* Conduct staff training on finance, operational topics

* Ensure compliance with IPG accounting policies/procedures, US GAAP, and SOX requirements

* Field internal and external audit requests as necessary

* Perform miscellaneous duties as directed

Basic Qualifications

* Minimum education requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field

* Minimum 8 years of experience working in a similar role, ideally in another communications, marketing, advertising, or digital agency or in another professional services environment

* Experience with US GAAP, SOX requirements, and other common accounting and finance standards and regulations


* MBA or CPA, with experience operating in a SOX compliant environment is a plus

* Experience working in a client service/agency environment

* Attention to detail and the ability to meet reporting deadlines

* Ability to handle complex global financial matters

* Proven track record in accountancy/regulations compliance

* Revenue recognition experience/knowledge

* Very strong control skills

* Excellent teamwork and project management skills

* Excellent communication skills
