Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Financial aid Processor is responsible for maintaining the financial aid information systems, processing, and reporting in a student-centered, team environment. This position entails all aspects of financial aid processing to include federal and institutional aid programs. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


* Maintain the financial aid student information system, PowerFAIDS, to include annual system set up and coordinating with IT for upgrades and troubleshooting

* Maintain the daily schedule of data exchanges between PowerFAIDS, Banner, and EdConnect

* Award federal financial aid programs

* Adjust financial aid awards to include performing the Return to Title IV Funds calculation

* Process federal financial aid originations, disbursements, and adjustments via the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system

* Prepare and/or process student aid disbursements and disbursement reconciliations

* Run reports and monitor student enrollment changes, satisfactory academic progress, and other student eligibility checks

* Send email batches

* Complete institutional, regulatory, and third party reporting such as FISAP, IPEDS, and Common Data Set requests

* Review student information on the National Student Loan Data System to resolve student eligibility issues

* Maintain working knowledge of federal, state and institutional aid programs, regulations and guidelines

* Active contributor to office discussions and recommends changes to improve the student experience

* Inputs Federal Work Study data from payroll into PowerFAIDs and monitors FWS usage

* Assist students and families with financial aid planning and counseling

* Perform other financial aid assignments and special projects as assigned


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time



External Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School degree required, Associates or Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business with a focus on Accounting preferred
Knowledge of Banner and PowerFaids is a plus
At least three years of relevant experience in a university setting
Must have a working knowledge of desktop computer applications including Microsoft Access, Excel and Word
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills required
