Under minimal direction from the Division Administrator and AMC Business Manager, perform financial management for the AIDS Malignancy Consortium (AMC) and Anal Cancer/HSIL Outcomes Research (ANCHOR) Study and assigned accounts in the UCLA Department of Medicine Clinical AIDS Research and Education (CARE) Center. Compile and analyze fiscal information to be used for preparation of the annual budget, and competitive grant renewal. Prepare financial reports, monthly statements, overdraft reports, and design and maintain on-line and manual financial reporting systems. Function as purchasing manager with responsibilities for overseeing placement of orders for supplies and equipment, travel vouchers and equipment management. Prepare budgets for contracts and grants and clinical trials.


Analytical skills to assess personnel and financial information, practice and procedures, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions and make recommendations. Skill in performing bookkeeping transactions and in preparing various related forms. Skill in perceiving and defining cause and effect relationships between expenditure rates and budgetary projections. Mathematical skills to prepare complex calculations including algebraic equations and forecasting. Skill in administration of multiple complex accounts from federal and private agencies. Ability to manage a heavy workload with constant interruptions, changing priorities and competing demands. Demonstrate proficiency to use MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Word and DOS database and other software packages on personal computers. Demonstrate ability to analyze, design and write financial systems programs. Demonstrate verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to function as part of a team. PREFERRED: Previous experience in a clinical dept. managing complex contracts and grants & interacting with physicians preferred.
