POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

*

The Financial Representative works within the Health Care Finance Department reporting to the Manager of Collections. This individual will work proactively with insurance payers to seek payment or resolve billing and collection issues for the assigned patient claims.
*

This position requires the use of strong interpersonal and organizational skills to collect open receivables and properly manage rejected claims ensuring a low number of open accounts from time of patient discharge.
*

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

*

Collects all insurance related open receivables from government payers (madicaid, MCOs or Medicare) as assigned.
*

Acquires and maintains knowledge of provisions in new, current, or terminated insurance contracts.
*

Investigates and gathers pertinent information such as explanation of benefits statements, insurance correspondence, calculations sheets, letters of explanation, etc, to successfully resolve underpaid or overpaid claim issues.
*

Actively problem solves patient related issues such as coordination of benefits, pre-existing conditions, open CMFs, to ensure a high level of patient satisfaction.
*

Utilizes online tools such as ASF, NEBO, and NDAS to determine status and eligibility.
*

Collaborates with internal departments to ensure expeditious claim resolution and proper communication on systemic trend s and issues.
*

Maintains Medicare 838 report and communicates open credit balances on a quarterly basis.
*

Utilizes EPIC (Account Maintenance, WQs, DNBs, Billing Indicators, Claim Edits).
*

Works independently to manage productivity and achieve quality goals as set by management.
*

Attends CMS educational meetings related to collections and underpayments.
*

Participates in continuous education and training on billing and collections.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

*

High school diploma or GED required.
*

Two years of experience in third party billing and collections within a healthcare environment is required.
*

Prior experience reading and interpreting medical insurance plans and EOBs is required.
*

Prior experience working with electronic medical records (ERP) applications is required, Epic is preferred.
*

Prior experience using E-Care is required.
*

Familiar with patient billing and eligibility applications such as ASF, NEBO, On-Base, and Availity is preferred.
*

Experience using Microsoft Office Word and Excel is required. Ability to draft communication using Word, and to create basic reports and track data using Excel.
*

Demonstrated analytical and mathematical competence.
*

Positive interpersonal skills.
*

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
