Responsible for selling and service portable fire extinguishers, exit signs and emergency lighting. Deliver CO2 tanks to individuals and businesses according to the prescribed guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. To perform this job successfully, the Fire Extinguisher & Suppression Technician may be expected to perform some or all of the duties listed.
Travels throughout assigned territory to solicit orders, sales and services.
Sales and services Fire Extinguishers, Exit & Emergency safety equipment.
Conducts inspections of fire suppressions systems.
Service, sell and perform maintenance of suppression kitchen hood systems.
Prepare accurate and timely service-call tickets for submission to Service/Operations management.
Explain maintenance and testing of portable extinguisher after installation.
Maintain company vehicle and organize truck stock parts and tools.
No Supervisory Responsibilities required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and understanding of the portable extinguisher requirements, suppression systems, emergency and safety equipment requirements.
Knowledge and understanding of the function of low pressure hydrostatic testing of portables extinguishers.
Knowledge of and a proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Excellent team building skills.
Constant use of discretion and problem analysis.
Frequent use of judgment and independent action.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Must be detail oriented and have good decision making skills. High degree of professionalism in working with employees and customers.
Ability to manage a varied and heavy workload and set priorities. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to develop and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, push, pull or feel and talk or hear. Able to stand, twist, walk, grasp and reach for extended periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Position requires color determination vision and clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Must be able to drive a motor vehicle while seated for extended periods, and be able to drive at night. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
The employee is required to be available to work on weekends, holidays and after 5 p.m. as needed.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one year industry experience in portables extinguisher and/or fire suppression systems or equivalent or proof of equivalent knowledge and skills Vocation or specialized training beyond high school preferred. Good driving record.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver s License State Fire Extinguisher and local licenses where required Hazmat communications certification
