JOB DESCRIPTIONDTI is seeking candidates for the position of Fixed Asset Staff Accountant.
The Fixed Asset Senior Accountant will handle all accounting for the fixed assets of the company including full ownership of the fixed asset sub-ledger, making sure assets are set up and disposed according to company policy, and preparing associated journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
Principal Responsibilities: Records the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, tracks existing assets, records asset disposals, records depreciation, prepares the Fixed Asset Roll forwardReview and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciationPrepares balance sheet reconciliations for all asset related accountsInvestigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.Prepare property tax returns and reporting.Prepares periodic capital expenditure reports for financial planningProjects depreciation and capital expenditures requests Maintains and improves the fixed asset database.Posts entries to the general ledger relating to equipment acquisitions & disposals, maintenance, operating and capital leases and depreciation.Prepares asset, liability and capital account entriesReconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.Prepares cost analysis reports for senior management by collecting and analyzing account information and trends.Works with select vendors to acquire assets.Negotiates maintenance agreements.Runs various asset reports upon requestDesired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting3-5 years of recent Fixed Assets Accounting experienceMS Office - intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and basic skills in WordStrong understanding of GAAPDemonstrated ability to improve the month-end close processMust be a process improvement-oriented individual with demonstrated success in continuously monitoring and improving the company’s internal controlsExcellent analytical, organizational, oral/written communication and customer relationship skills. General ledger experienceNavision account software experiencePurchasing experienceExperience in operating leases (preferred)Advanced MS Excel skills (heavy emphasis on proficiency and knowledge of Excel)
