Department Food & Beverage Job Description POSITION PURPOSE To deliver food to tables once a food order has been prepared by the cooks. The food runner may also assist in many other duties when other members of the staff are busy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To deliver food to restaurant patrons carefully and in a timely manner, to ensure optimal food temperature. To assist as needed other restaurant staff members with duties such as clearing and cleaning tables, filling water glasses and refilling drinks, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and customer areas and returning plates to the kitchen. Other: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Starwood rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotels facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. Perform set up duties as requested to include side stations, storage areas and food staging area. Perform general cleaning tasks utilizing cleaning to adhere to health and safety standards. Fold napkins for meal periods to maintain an adequate supply. Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests. Requirements Schedule: This is a part-time PM shift position. The hours are 6pm-10pm. Must be flexible to work varying PM shifts. Must be flexible to work weekends and holidays. Must be efficient, detail-oriented, courteous, attention to cleanliness and a team player attitude. Must also be quick and efficient in order to serve as many customers as possible. Education High school or equivalent education required. Experience Prior food & beverage experience preferred. Public contact experience desired. Grooming All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Starwood standards.
