The Forecasting & Analytics Lead plays a key part in the success of US IM Franchise brands by delivering objective & accurate forecasts which enable Franchise leadership to understand both near and long term opportunities & risks for their brands. In addition, this role enables the Franchise brands to achieve/exceed its goals by delivering analytics which quantify marketplace dynamics which impact brand performance.
Lead the development of short & long-range forecasting for in-line & pipeline products for the US IM Franchise.
o Develop Budget, LV, LRP forecasts for all In-line brands (some Pipeline support)
o S&OP US Forecasts & Scenarios
Quarter-backing the development and leading the delivery of weekly and monthly brand performance reports that effectively and efficiently diagnose brand performance both in relation to internal sales expectations as well as relative to market dynamics
Present weekly and monthly brand performance including key business implications.
Deliver analytics which inform forecast assumptions and help the Franchise to deliver on its budgetary commitments by quantifying the marketplace dynamics impacting brand performance.
Shape business decisions by evaluating key events and raising awareness of key sensitivities and scenarios.
Work with Disease area leadership on their key commercial issues and influence by providing and coordinating key insights into those issues.
Focus forecasting on material assumptions and work with peers to evaluate and assess key assumptions.
40%: Responsible for ensuring that customized strategic forecasts are developed for all in-line and developmental and related product opportunities with assumptions based on facts and research; these forecasts are the basis for financial investment decisions that encompass the product lifecycle. Gains alignment for forecasting assumptions from stakeholders.
Ensures Long Range Planning process goes smoothly and works closely with Finance and GPS.
30%: Determines appropriate reporting needs and ensures production and generation weekly & monthly reports.
Track appropriate metrics and deliver national and sub-national analytics which effectively diagnose brand performance which highlight actions to improve brand performance. Individual will maintain awareness of all material risks and opportunities that affect near-term (next month) and long term (7 years+).
Communicate such risks/opportunities in logical ways to key personnel, including Commercial Leads and the IM Franchise Head.
15%: Collaborate closely with the Technical Operations group in the management of the Global Sales & Operations Planning process for Business Unit. Working jointly with Supply Chain, to ensure adequate global product supply to meet patient demand and stocking needs for the US.
15%: Individual will lead the consensus-building process to gain approval for forecasts with the Franchise, Business Insights, Finance, and, as appropriate, other functions and senior management within Shire.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor s degree required. MBA or Master's degree preferred in Business Administration, Marketing, Statistics, Science or other relevant discipline.
5+ years of business experience in the Pharmaceutical and/or Biotech industry with substantial experience in business analysis and forecasting; extensive knowledge of secondary research methodologies and Pharma industry databases.
Experienced and skilled in creating forecast models for marketed and/or pre-launch pharmaceutical products, requiring only a moderate level of supervision; excellent excel skills with advanced skill in SAS or other statistical programming preferred.
Additional industry experience in product development, marketing and sales considered a plus. Experience in a matrix business environment also a plus.
