The Forecasting and Analytics Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing data analysis and reporting for the School of Medicine. The role is to turn data into information - to be able to access, analyze and present information from operational, financial, clinical and/or industry data sources to help guide decision-making for the school. The incumbent will be responsible for complex financial forecasting and analytics. The position will also provide consultative support services to all levels of management by advising on resolutions to financial problems; and making recommendations concerning school resources, policies, practices, and operations. The School of Medicine at the University of California, Riverside was the first public medical school created in California in more than 40 years. The school has the distinctive mission of training a diverse physician workforce and developing research and healthcare delivery programs to improve the health of medically underserved populations in the Inland Empire region of California. The medical school also offers a Ph.D. program in biomedical sciences, and operates residency training programs in family medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry, and primary care pediatrics (in partnership with Loma Linda University), with additional programs in development.
Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
Demonstrated and extensive experience participating in strategic planning in a higher education, academic medicine, healthcare or similar setting.
Ability to present complex finance related information in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally.
Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to identify, collect and analyze information from a variety of sources.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Advanced Interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; service orientation; advanced critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, effective organizational skills
Ability to function as a member of a team.
Demonstrated skill in evaluating project needs, determining approaches, evaluating impact of alternatives and making viable recommendations consistent with sound financial management.
Advanced expertise using computer software, such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access, in a Windows environment.
Demonstrated ability to develop qualitative and quantitative models depicting various strategies and proposals from which to evaluate and assess various implications to the SOM, and formulate viable recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to translate observations, finding and recommendations from analytical studies into a concise written report.
