Sun Chemical is the largest producer of printing inks and pigments worldwide. We have an excellent opportunity for you to join our Charlotte, North Carolina Liquid Inks Application Lab. This challenging position provides solutions to a wide range of problems for liquid inks. Under minimal supervision and direction, this individual will work on developing new products, recommending existing products for new applications and also work on cost savings initiatives. They will work on projects assigned to them by the lab manager or project leader. Good people skills are necessary, since this position has contact with the sales representatives, and sometimes directly with the customer. Good communication is essential to accurately identify the issues at hand and convey results to the customer, directly or indirectly.Prepares samples utilizing ink/coating raw materials and lab equipment. Determines appropriate test methodology to deliver desired outcome. Plans experiments and determines priorities. Prepares and tests lab proofs. Analyzes and presents lab data; writes reports on results. Maintains records in lab notebook, GPM and ISO repositories. Interacts with vendors and branches. Interacts with Product Management for direction and product development; utilizes existing product standards as primary back-up and development as a secondary measure. Learns and Utilizes ISO/Safety protocols. Ensures laboratory equipment, general housekeeping and safety standard requirements are maintained. Monitors trials and pilot plant runs. May attend and assist at field trials. Performs other duties as assigned.Desired Skills and ExperienceBS or Associate’s degree in Graphic Arts or a scientific discipline is required or four years’ minimum relevant experience. At least 3 years’ formulating experience with Solvent and Water Based Liquid Inks. Excellent presentation skills and written communication skills Knowledgeable in the use of MiniTab software for DOE Experience with Microsoft Office software.
