JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY
Reports live on New York 1 on traffic and transit conditions. Also writes, records, and creates graphics for traffic and transit reports for the 24-hour traffic channel. Responsible for monitoring traffic and transit conditions to update copy for reports and graphics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting
Strong news judgment

Gathers and verifies factual information for reporting through interview, observation, and research.
Organizes material, determines emphasis, and writes report according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
Develops sources and contacts for story development.
Make decisive and accurate judgments for story and personal safety.
May also be asked to write vosots for anchors. Camera and Field Operations
Shoots video to illustrate stories if needed.
Edits, or assists in editing, videos for broadcast.
Drives to news locations (must have driver s license) if needed.
Checks and maintains equipment
Lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds. Presentation Skills
Appears on television program when conducting taped or filmed interviews or narration.
Gives live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
Strong knowledge of NYC s subway lines, bus routes and major roadways REQUIRED
Ability to cover breaking news for 24 hour news cycle. Other Duties as Assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Bachelors Degree, preferably in Journalism/Communication /English or relevant beat experience.

* Previous on-air experience preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years experience working as a traffic reporter.
* Must have valid driver's license with clean driving record.
