JOB DESCRIPTIONThis job contributes to confidential clients success by planning, scheduling, and managing the work of the General Accounting team within the established accounting policies of the organization and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). It is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and directing the general accounting activities and functions. This position provides leadership, guidance and expertise to all divisions with regards to general accounting issues. It is also responsible for identifying and executing accounting related projects that support company and department strategic initiatives. Models and acts in accordance with confidential clients guiding values and mission.
*Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
*Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote confidential clients key messages.
*Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results.
*Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
*Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
*Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
*Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results.
*Establishes and maintains visibility within the department.
*Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action.
*Leads and nurtures a work culture that promotes open, frequent and dynamic communication among staff, stimulating teamwork to accomplish desired goals and objectives
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years accounting experience.
2+ years of previous accounting management or supervisory experience in a mid to large corporate environment.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Solid understanding of financial systems; SAP experience preferred.
Advanced use of Excel.
Solid understanding of internal controls and account reconciliations.
Ability to understand complex financial calculations and analysis.
Demonstrated effective leadership and motivational skills.
Excellent project management skills.
Effective work methods and good organization and time management skills.
Excellent follow through and attention to detail.
Ability to identify, analyze and objectively solve problems.
Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and sound judgment.
Builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts.
