JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY For more than 40 years, Cherokee Nation Industries (CNI) has operated as a government contractor in aerospace and defense manufacturing. Serves as business unit manager for Aerospace & Defense. Directs the execution of aerospace manufacturing plans and provides overall leadership to the aerospace manufacturing team, as well as a large customer base to meet the company’s initiatives and objectives by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):
Responsible for communicating and providing information for customers and vendors as necessary—may include travel
Oversees various manufacturing support functions, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Facilities/Maintenance; Supervises day-to-day manufacturing operations
Develops and implements policies and procedures pertinent to the effective and efficient operation of the aerospace manufacturing department; Develops and monitors business forecasts and implements action plans designed to meet forecast levels
Adapts to changes in product lines and customer needs as needed; Sets performance standards to meet service goals of company
Monitors market indicators that may affect current business or new business opportunities in order to make decisions
Performs needs analysis on the health of the business environment, staff, and financial statements as necessary and implements changes to resolve issues
Determines various goals, measurements, and objectives to monitor and reach budget and profit expectations for stakeholders; Formulates and prepares various negotiation agreements and contracts
Develops and utilizes various operations reports as necessary; Develops, manages, and maintains budget
Manages policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures
Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development
Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships
Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand
Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost
Balances work cell capacity/loading across the plant; strategically partners with other departments and/or business units in order to meet customer expectations
Determines operations headcount needs and ensures compliance with company policies
Identifies, communicates and drives implementation of capital investments and improvement projects; Manages compliance with state, federal and tribal regulations
Responsible for production operations and their related support functions. Responsible for financial performance of Aerospace & Defense business unit. Sets goals and decides areas of responsibility. May assign and direct work, corrects and disciplines, recommends salary increase, recommends promotions/discharges, assists in interviewing and selection of employees, trains employees, determines the means, methods and materials for performing work, plans the work operation.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree; or nine years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least six to ten years’ experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and technical descriptions. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and must be able to use an accounting system, database system, manufacturing software, development software, design software, order processing system, inventory system, word processing software, Internet software, contract management software, and spreadsheet software. Interpersonal skills; customer service skills; contract management skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management; basic math, fax machine, and filing skills
