This position is for the Opening General Manager for the newly built Element By Westin Hotel in West Des Moines Functions as the primary strategic business leader of the property with responsibility for all aspects of the operation, including: managing general property performance, managing and sustaining sales and marketing strategy, managing profitability, managing revenue generation, managing and conducting human resources activities, and delivering a return on investment to ownership. Leads the team in the development and implementation of property-wide strategies. Verifies implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives with the objective of meeting or exceeding guest expectations and quality assurance standards. Builds relationships with key customers and is involved in sales. This position requires a hands on leader. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide exceptional customer service to all hotel guests, making their stay as comfortable and accommodating as possible while achieving team and Brand goals. Ensures that all policies, procedures, federal, state, and local ordinances with regard to personnel, security, cash handling, guest relations, and safety are followed. Maintains and improves property standards and service to ensure guest satisfaction and the right public image. Ensure that the property and its inventories are always in the best conditions. Prepares for QA audits. Achieve budgeted revenue and profit goals, balancing cost with guest satisfaction. Comply with all corporate accounting procedures. Inspects property on a regular basis and enforces the implementation of actions toward the safety, comfort, cleanliness and maintenance standards. Ensure property hiring and all employee practices comply with company and legal requirements and strive for a culturally diverse work place. Selects, trains, and directs department supervisors and other associates as necessary keeping them well versed in all policies and procedures. Reviews and works with appropriate revenue management reports to maximize revenue. Actively prospect for and pursue sales leads in the market, securing future bookings and clients for the hotel. Remain highly visible and be readily available for associates and guests at all times. Perform other duties as required.
