SERVICE AREA OVERVIEW
We recognize each patient s journey to recovery is different and requires a special level of care. Our Medical/Surgical Unit at Northside Hospital provides acute and rehabilitative nursing care services to help our patients get back to their daily lives. The Med/Surg unit is characterized by a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere that stresses individual attention for all patients. This approach is reflected in outstanding patient satisfaction survey results. The unit also participates in nursing education by providing internships for students. We also support clinical internships for Patient Care Technicians. If you have the skills to contribute to our team, Northside is eager to talk to you!
The General Medicine RN will be responsible for managing the patient care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the department. The General Medical unit specializes in gerontology, behavioral health services and holds a disease specific certification in the treatment of the pneumonia patient.
Our Pneumonia certified General Medicine unit will offer the opportunity to work with a variety of patients, including: Sickle Cell, Chronic Pain, CHF, COPD, Diabetes, Psych, Pneumonia and patients on heparin and insulin drips. You can also have the opportunity to advance your skill set and learn peritoneal dialysis. You will be working within a healthcare team of many Medical/Surgical certified and Geriatric certified RNs. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A minimum of one year of recent, hospital medical/surgical experience is required. Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
