Genetic Counseling Assistant

A full-time position is available for a genetic counseling assistant in the growing Tumor Genomics Program at Bio-Reference Laboratories. The Tumor Genomics Program is a CAP/CLIA-certified diagnostics laboratory providing Next Generation Sequencing diagnostic testing to our clinicians. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with exceptional organization skills to join our team. The position requires familiarity with cancer and clinical pathology reports. The primary role will be to support the clinical testing service of the tumor profiling laboratory in working with the team of molecular pathologists, laboratory directors and genetic counselors. This will include: reviewing patient medical and testing history, helping capture and organize clinical information for cases, helping maintain the active knowledge bases, and coordinating sample management through the testing process. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Biology, Pre-medicine, Chemistry, Genetics or relevant biological science.
Familiarity with medical terminology, reviewing medical records, test requisitions, pathology reports
Must be comfortable using a variety of computational tools and databases
Previous experience working in a diagnostic laboratory desired, with experience reviewing pathology records
Ability to work independently
Ability to prioritize
communication and organizational skills
