Description:
Leader of the successful delivery of Environmental,
Health and Safety responsibilities across our prominent
client's portfolio. Direct responsibility for EH&S in
the Americas and management of a team of EH&S
professionals across the global portfolio.
Technical Knowledge:
* Global subject matter expert in Environmental Health
& Safety, responsible for the provision of
information, training and support to ensure
compliance with current and new regulations and
legislation
* Supporting the site FM teams for external audits by
the Client, e.g. ISO 14001 and 18001, blue insurance
audits
* Responsible for the development of global EH&S
guidelines and policies, ensuring that local
obligations are met
* Identify and evaluate the environmental aspects of
site facilities and their operations, research and
implement minimization techniques to reduce
environmental impact
* Globally oversee each region s use of client s
energy, waste and carbon emissions, ensure accurate
data collection and input
* Assist with maintaining site preparedness and
emergency plans & procedures
* The key point of escalation for accidents and
incidents reporting and ensure appropriate measures
implemented to minimize future risk
* Subject matter expert supporting Technology,
Procurement and Engineering in their activities
Leadership:
* Manage and develop the global EH&S team, ensuring
all agreed business objectives are met in line with
client and business expectations
* Proven leadership skills with ability to work
collaboratively with client EH&S counterparts
* Responsible for leading the EH&S Team to
successfully achieve health, safety, and
environmental targets by building a sustainable,
consistent and high quality team
EH&S Objectives:
* Agree and monitor global objectives for health,
safety and environment that underpin our client's
strategy and develop appropriate metrics for
reporting purposes
* Responsible for delivery of Annual Operation Plan
deliverables
Training and development:
* Training and educating on the importance of premises
safety checks including Asbestos and Risk Assessment
Management, reviewing safety checks for consistency
and identifying further training needs. Evaluation
of current training EH&S programs and revision where
necessary
Reporting:
* Monthly KPI reporting against agreed metrics
* EH&S management reporting; review the current EH&S
management reporting requirements make
recommendations where necessary. Ensure the timely
submission of reports to RE community
* Operational Plan reporting; report on progress of
implementation of yearly operational plan
initiatives
* Maintaining and improving the EH&S management
system, ensuring that policies and procedures meet
the global and local requirements
* Globally oversee each region s environmental
management including hazardous waste and refrigerant
gas management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety &
Health, EH&S Management, or a related field required
* Minimum 5-7 years of leadership/managerial
experience within the Environmental Health and
Safety function including the auditing of premises
and dealing with government inspectors required
* Proven experience managing energy in complex
organisations across a number of sites and countries
* Proven leadership and teamwork skills with
demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively
and to influence those with whom no formal
hierarchical relationship exists
* Ability to lead an international team remotely
* Experience of an Integrated Management System (e.g.
, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001)
* Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office
software
* Highly effective written and verbal communications
skills that can used with people of various
backgrounds, experience, and education levels
* Highly developed interpersonal communications skills
and cultural sensitivity
* Demonstrated highly effective platform presentation
skills and training delivery skills
* Ability to travel internationally
* Understanding of Environmental issues, particularly
waste, hazardous waste and refrigerant gas
management
* Ability to handle multiple projects and manage
priorities
